Next to thanksgiving, Christmas is probably the number one jello mold time of year. Many people love Christmas jello molds and make them to serve with that special holiday dinner. This jello mold recipes is simple to make and makes a very festive looking jello mold to adorn your Christmas dinner table. It uses lime jello for the green tree and you can use either strawberry, cranberry or raspberry jello for the ornaments.
Christmas tree jello molds are not difficult to find but if you have a star-shaped mold or a Santa-shaped mold, feel free to use one of those instead. This is such a fun dessert to make and using a jello Christmas tree mold just makes it even more fun because you can really thrill your family with this cute dessert.
To further give the look of a Christmas tree fully decorated, you can add raspberries or for slightly tarter jello mold, or even use cranberries or a combination of the two for a sweet and tart flavor. The fresh berries will look like little Christmas tree balls and add a wonderful taste to this simple dessert. The secret to getting a very nice color contrast between the two different layers is to allow the lime jello to pre-chill in the refrigerator so it does not melt the red berry flavored layer underneath. Ingredients -
Christmas tree Jello Mold
1 package Lime Jello (modify for size of mold)
1 package Strawberry Jello or Alternatively Cranberry or Raspberry Jello
½ cup Fresh Raspberry or Cranberries
Cool Whip to Garnish
Preparation:
Mix the strawberry or raspberry jello per package directions.
Pour into Christmas tree mold to cover the presents and ornaments. Place into refrigerator till fully set about 2 to 3 hours.
When the first layer is fully set mix the lime jello per package instructions. Place the bowl of lime jello in the refrigerator and allow to chill till it just starts to set.
Take out the tree mold and the pre-chilled lime jello. Add the raspberry to the pre-chilled lime jello and carefully add the lime jello to fill the mold. The raspberries will look like Christmas tree balls.
Place in the refrigerator and allow to fully set about 3 hours.
To demold place for a brief amount of time (few seconds) the base of the mold in warm water to loosen the sides from the mold. Place a chilled plate under the top of the mold and flip gently to remove from mold. You can test if the side are releasing properly by gently flexing the mold and seeing if the sides separate from the mold.
