Because you use little two ounce cups to make jello shots, they only take an hour to set. A big jello mold recipe can take four or five hours to set.
Cherry jello and cola make a great cherry cola shot. Orange jello, water, and vanilla ice cream make a creamy orange jello shot. You can use any flavor of jello with a cup of boiling water and a cup of soda, ice cream, lemonade or any other liquid you like. Use thin soufflé cups for making the shots. If the jello sets too firmly, people can squeeze the sizes of the cups to get the jello out. If you want to make double layer jello shots, simply mix the jello with boiling water, and then fill the cups up halfway. Chill them for twenty minutes. Add the cool liquid to the jello and let it thicken at room temperature, then pour it over the jello mixture in the cups for the second layer, and chill them for an hour more.
