Like with many jello recipes, these desserts feature two different flavors of jello plus a creamy layer. You can use any flavors of jello you like, but this eye-catching and patriotic jello dessert is fantastic for the fourth of July. If you are making these creamy jello desserts in honor of something else, perhaps a birthday, you can choose any appropriate or favorite jello flavors or colors to make them.
You can use unflavored gelatin rather than the lemon jello for a whiter middle stripe but the lemon is a great flavor for this delicious jello recipe. You might have to experiment with different glasses to get the tilt effect. Round bottomed glasses are great actually, because they tilt and will not fall over. If you only have stemmed glasses, just take care when you are moving the glasses around and do not let anyone slam the refrigerator door while they are in there, or you will have broken glass and jello all over the place!
It is always fun to discover a really easy jello desserts recipe like this one, where you only need to make three layers of jello but you have an unusual tilted effect. People will wonder how you got the jello to tilt like that, and kids are especially thrilled, but only you know the jello secrets for making it like that!
Ingredients -
1 package strawberry jello (8 serving size)
1 package blueberry jello (8 serving size)
1 quart boiling water
1 small package lemon jello (4 serving size)
8 oz cool whip, thawed
3 cups cold water
Preparation:
Add 1 ½ cups of the boiling water to the blueberry jello powder and stir until the gelatin is dissolved. Do the same with the strawberry jello in another bowl.
Divide the cold water between the two jello mixtures and stir in.
Pour the strawberry jello into 10 large stemmed glasses and chill for 45 minutes with the glasses on an angle (put the base of each glass through the rack in the refrigerator) until the jello sticks to your finger when you touch it but is not set.
In a refrigerator with glass shelves lean the glasses against the side and on the bottom support with a 9"x13" pan filled with some heavy caned goods so it stays in place. This takes some careful planning but works well if you are careful in setting it up. Keep the kids away while this is setting.
Chill the blueberry jello in the bowl for 45 minutes.
Stir the other cup of boiling water in to the dry lemon jello powder until it dissolves and chill for 30 minutes, stirring now and then. Whisk in half the cool whip and spread this mixture over the strawberry jello in the glasses.
Chill for 10 minutes.
When the blueberry jello has set, whisk it with the rest of the cool whip until it is frothy.
Spoon the creamy blueberry jello over the lemon jello mixture in each glass and chill for at least 4 hours until the jello desserts have set.
(Serves 10)
If you want to make patriotic creamy jello desserts, using red, white, and blue jello is a great idea. You can use strawberry, cherry, or raspberry jello for the red and blueberry jello for the blue. Make white jello by adding cream to the jello before you let it set. There are various red, white, and blue jello recipes you can choose from.
Creamy jello desserts are a great way of celebrating the 4th of July. You can use red, white, and blue jello to make jello mold recipes, jello cake or layered jello recipes. Some 4th of July jello recipes call for a white-frosted cake or white dessert, and you can use blueberries and raspberries or strawberries to decorate it like an American flag.
