If you have a sweet tooth but you are also watching the calories, this healthy jello recipe might be a great one to try out. It is also very quick to make. You do not need to know how to make yogurt in order to make a jello and yogurt parfait but you can make your own if you want to. Use any flavor of yogurt you happen to have. For making this dessert, it is more economical to buy a big pot of yogurt rather than individual ones.
The creamy texture of yogurt goes perfectly with the jello consistency, and the cereal or chocolate flakes on top finish the dessert or breakfast off nicely. You can serve this jello and yogurt parfait to your family and it is so delicious that they will not even know they are eating something healthy.
We suggest using sugar free jello in this recipe because the results will be identical and the only calories will come from the yogurt. You can use any flavor of yogurt in this jello and yogurt recipe but, in keeping with the theme, you might like to pick something fat free like natural yogurt or a cherry or lemon flavored yogurt to match the jello flavors. This makes a great breakfast or a dessert.
Ingredients -
½ package cherry jello, 3 oz size (0.6 oz for sugar free)
¼ cup canned cherries, drained, stones removed
½ package lemon jello, 3 oz size (0.6 oz for sugar free)
1 cup boiling water
2 cups ice cubes
1 ½ pints yogurt
Cereal flakes for topping
Preparation:
Dissolve the cherry jello in half the boiling water in one bowl and the lemon jello in the other half of the boiling water in another bowl.
Add the cherries to the cherry jello mixture. Add half the ice to each mixture and stir until the jello starts to thicken up.
Remove any unmelted ice. Leave the jello in the refrigerator for a couple of hours until they have both set.
Roughly, chop the jello up into chunks.
Divide a couple of tablespoons of yogurt between 4 serving glasses and divide half the cherry jello mixture between each glass.
Divide all the lemon jello between the glasses, followed by more yogurt, more cherry jello, and top with yogurt.
Decorate each glass with cereal flakes (or chocolate flakes for a treat!)
Serve immediately.

As you can see from this photo, healthy jello recipes can look appetizing too. This wonderful mixture of fruit, yogurt, and jello is so simple to put together, yet it looks just as impressive as something more complex. Serve this jello dessert in long tall glasses so you can see the layers. You can use whichever colors of jello you want to, for a fun and colorful result. This jello and yogurt parfait with cherries might just become one of your favorite sweet treats, because it is so tasty but so healthy as well.
A parfait is a layered dessert, perhaps a jello and yogurt parfait with cherries or a fruit, cream, syrup and ice cream parfait. Parfaits are usually served in parfait glasses, which are long and tall and made from clear glass, so you can see the different layers in the dessert.
Parfait glasses usually have a short stem. If you are serving jello and yogurt parfait to kids, you might want to use plastic containers instead, for obvious reasons! Both ice cream parfait and jello and yogurt parfait tend to be popular with kids as well as adults.
A parfait is a combination of layers - usually ice cream, whipped cream, and syrup. Another kind of parfait is made with sugar, cream, eggs, and flavorings, all frozen and served in a dessert glass. The word "parfait" is French for "perfect" and the word started appearing in English literature in the late nineteenth century.
French parfaits are usually a combination of fruit puree, custard, and cream. Sometimes French parfaits also contain meringues or a fruit liqueur. A typical American style parfait is made with ice cream, whipped cream, different syrups and a maraschino cherry on top. A Japanese parfait is any kind of ice cream sundae and might contain nuts, fruit or red bean paste as well as ice cream. Both the American and French style parfaits are normally served in long, slim glasses.
Ice cream, syrup, and whipped cream are delicious but not the most waistline-friendly ingredients for a dessert. If you love chilled, layered desserts, what about making a jello and yogurt parfait with cherries? You can use any kind of yogurt and any flavor of jello. Fresh fruit is delicious with jello and yogurt parfait and you can use any kind of berries or other fruits. Add some granola for a satisfying crunch. If you use granola, you might want to serve yogurt parfait for breakfast. Combining two or more kinds of colorful jello is a great idea too. Colorful desserts are always so appetizing.
