Fruity Mandarin Orange Jello Recipe Compote

This is a rich and aromatic jello dessert, flavored with orange, vanilla, brandy, and fruit, but you do not have to use brandy in the recipe if you do not want to. If you want a jello dessert recipe for an elegant treat, this one is really good.

A good tip for this fruity mandarin orange jello recipe is to leave the bananas until you are ready to serve it. It you leave chopped bananas lying around, and then tend to go brown, so chop them just before you are ready to serve the compote. Actually, the same happens with apples, but you can chop the apple just before you add it to the jello and the jello around it will stop it from going brown.

You can use strawberry jello or raspberry jello if you prefer, for a richer red color and for a different flavor. A compote is traditionally a dessert where fruit is cooked or prepared in a liquid, and liqueur can be added for flavor. This makes a great dessert for the adults and you could also make a kids' version if you have kids, by leaving out the brandy and decorating the dessert with some chocolate syrup or rainbow colored sprinkles.
